Geena Giovannetti

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Geena is responsible for facilitating the day to day management of the Berkeley office and providing support to the West Coast team on a variety of consulting projects, research, and business development.

Prior to joining SustainAbility, Geena worked as a Document Specialist in the Regional Records Center at the Environmental Protection Agency. In that role she was responsible for maintaining the EPA’s records management system through quality assurance and data entry.

Geena is passionate about sports and spends her free time coaching youth girls’ basketball teams. She also enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Sarah Hansen

Based in the San Francisco area in our Oakland office, Sarah works across a range of projects and sectors, leading research and analysis to help clients integrate sustainability into their business.

Sarah joined SustainAbility after several years as a market intelligence analyst at IHS Markit, focusing on the technology sector while also leading her office’s local sustainability efforts. Prior to that, she contributed to the sustainability program at ARAMARK Sports and Entertainment, working on the environmental initiatives of both the facilities management and food and beverage businesses.

Sarah holds a BA in Environmental Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver.

Rita Sampainho

Rita is an Analyst leading on research and analysis for sustainability strategy projects.

Rita joined SustainAbility from Corporate Citizenship where she supported clients in measuring and mitigating their environmental impacts and in developing their environmental strategies. This included support in policy development, target setting, and performance measurement.

Previously, Rita worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute for the Environment, Health and Societies at Brunel University and as Carbon Data Analyst at the ET Index. Rita has an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and speaks Portuguese and Spanish.

Janet Voûte

Ms Janet Voûte Chairs the Nestlé Creating Shared Value Council, an expert advisory council focused on issues ranging from nutrition to water and sustainable agriculture.

She is a Non-Executive Director at Bupa an international health insurance and care company. She also serves as an Ambassador for the International Integrated Reporting Initiative.

From 2010 to 2016, she served as Vice President and Global Head of Public Affairs and was a member of the internal Nestlé-in-Society Board. She was responsible for Creating Shared Value reporting including reporting on progress against the Sustainable Development Goals, and stakeholder engagement including the management of relations with UN agencies and Civil Society.

Prior to joining Nestlé, Ms Voûte served as Partnership Adviser at the World Health Organization, CEO of the World Heart Federation and Vice President/Partner at strategy consulting firm Bain & Company.

Ms Voûte is an honors graduate of Smith College and the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Nick has been working in corporate sustainability for nearly six years, both in consultancy and in-house roles.

Nick has a particular interest in stakeholder engagement, strategy design, and the integration of responsible business practices across organisations, systems and value chains.

Nick joined SustainAbility from the CR team at KPMG in the UK. At KPMG he was responsible for strategy design and implementation, integrating CR across the business, communications and the firm’s pro-bono work. Prior to this, Nick spent four years at Corporate Citizenship working with global clients to design, implement, measure and communicate responsible business initiatives. Clients included GSK, Unilever and Provident Financial Group.

Nick graduated from the University of Warwick with a BA in History and Politics. He spent a year of his studies at Sciences Po, Paris, and is a fluent French speaker.

Prior to joining SustainAbility, Sabrina worked as Programme Manager for the social enterprise PUR Projet, designing and implementing ecosystem conservation and regeneration programmes in corporate partners’ agricultural supply chains. She has also previously worked with the United Nations Environment Programme and the French Vegetarian Society.

Sabrina has a Master’s in Management degree from top French business schools ESCP Europe and HEC Paris, where she focused on sustainability, social innovation and environmental management.

Passionate about sustainable food and agriculture in particular, Sabrina holds a Certificate in Sustainable Horticulture from Schumacher College, a world-leading education centre for sustainability and ecology. Originally from Brazil, she is fluent in French, Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Michael Sadowski

For nearly 20 years, Michael Sadowski has worked with companies to create business value through a strategic approach to sustainability issues.

Michael has been a trusted advisor to senior executives, driven change from within companies, led research and authored reports and articles, facilitated multi-stakeholder collaborations, and managed organizations and teams.

As an independent consultant, Michael is currently leading work with the World Resources Institute to develop guidance for the apparel and footwear industry on science-based climate change targets. He is also advising Closed Loop Partners in a number of areas including their investments in the apparel sector.

Before this, Michael led strategy and managed external partnerships for Nike’s Sustainable Business & Innovation team. This included managing Nike’s relationships with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and the We Mean Business coalition.

Prior to Nike, Michael was a Vice President at SustainAbility, Inc. where he was a member of the management team. His clients included Barclays, BMW, Brown-Forman, Gap, Goldman Sachs, Holcim, HP, Nike, and Walmart. He played a key role in developing multi-stakeholder collaborations including the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals Group and the Closed Loop Fund, and researched and wrote on topics including consumer interest in sustainability, ratings and rankings, the business case for sustainability, and investor engagement.

Michael holds a BA in Economics from Columbia University and an MBA with high distinction and an MS (Environmental Policy) from the University of Michigan. Michael currently serves on the External Advisory Board for the Erb Institute at the University of Michigan, and is a Board member of DendriFund, an environmental foundation established by Brown-Forman.

Clarisse Allamel

Based in London, Clarisse works as an analyst on a variety of projects and sectors, helping clients integrate sustainability into their business strategy.

She joined the SustainAbility team after gaining international experience in finance, strategy and legal advisory. She notably worked as a sustainable finance analyst for an ESG fund and as a sustainability project coordinator at Givaudan, leader in Flavors & Fragrances. She also spent some time working for the M&A transactions team of DLA Piper, a large US business law firm. Volunteer in environmental and social organizations, she conducted her thesis on the drivers and characteristics of the integration of sustainability into business strategies.

Clarisse holds a French-American BSc in international business and finance and an MSc in International Management from Bocconi University and CEMS. She has lived in seven countries over the last six years and speaks French, English, German and Italian.

Stefan Jimenez

Based in New York, Stefan contributes to SustainAbility’s projects across a range of clients by supporting them to identify and analyze material sustainability issues, benchmark performance and develop strategy and targets for sustainability.

Past and current clients include Visa, Keurig Dr Pepper, Brown-Forman and ReFED, a non-profit dedicated to reducing food waste.
Stefan brings with him experience in food, agriculture and renewable energy. Before joining SustainAbility, Stefan advised leading farming businesses in the UK on a range of sustainability issues at the CLA, a non-profit membership organization for landowning businesses. During this time he also helped design and advocate for post-Brexit agriculture policy reform to create a market for beneficial environmental practices in England and Wales.
Stefan speaks Spanish fluently and is proficient in Portuguese. He holds a BBA in International Business from the George Washington University and an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London.

Lex Burkett

Based in New York, Lex is responsible for the daily administration of the Brooklyn office and for managing the US team’s financial bookkeeping.

She provides knowledge management, data visualization, and business development support to the global SustainAbility team. 

Prior to joining SustainAbility, Lex worked for City Year, an AmeriCorps education non-profit. During her time there, she held a diverse array of roles— from teaching at an elementary school to designing community gardens to planning corporate service events. These experiences sparked her passions for education reform, sustainable agriculture, and community engagement. 

Lex holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo. She is an avid skier, hiker, and cyclist. When not adventuring outdoors, she can be found listening to jazz, reading classic literature, and penning a collection of short stories.

Caitlin Martin

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Caitlin works on a diverse set of projects including advising clients on their material issues and developing strategies for sustainability.

Prior to joining SustainAbility, Caitlin worked on materials and product sustainability at Patagonia, analyzing the environmental impact of various raw materials, dye technologies, and garments. During this time, she also helped outline a strategy to reduce company greenhouse gas emissions through materials innovation in the product portfolio.

Caitlin also has experience supporting and advancing corporate sustainability initiatives through roles in both the not-for-profit and public sectors. With a strong background in research and communication, she has focused her career on using science-based and business-driven solutions to drive sustainable change.

Caitlin holds a Master’s in Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UC Santa Barbara and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from the University of Southern California. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys baking, tennis, playing violin, and the performing arts.
